Are there any up-front fees that I will incur if I sign a Broker Agreement with you?

No. There are absolutely no fees associated with the Broker Agreement.

If there are no fees, how does Competitive Energy Services - Massachusetts make any money?

We make money based entirely on success. When you sign a contract for electricity supply that we bring to you, the price you will pay for electricity under that contract will include our fee. If you do not sign a supply contract during the term of the Broker Agreement, you owe us nothing - not a single penny.

How long is the term of the Broker Agreement?

The Broker Agreement is for a period of six (6) months. During this period, you commit to using Competitive Energy Services - Massachusetts on an exclusive basis to obtain an electricity supply contract or contracts for those accounts covered under the Broker Agreement.

What if I do not want to accept any of the contracts you bring to me?

The decision to accept any contract that we bring to you is yours and yours alone. We will offer you advice and provide you with additional information to assist you in making a decision, but the final decision is yours. And, if you do not accept any contract during the term of the Broker Agreement, the Broker Agreement terminates and you owe us nothing.

What if I wish to use a different supplier than the ones you obtain contracts from for me?

The Broker Agreement restricts your ability to act independently during its term. If, however, you wish to use a supplier that is different from any we bring to you, you may do so, but only if that supplier agrees to include our fee in its price to you and to remit that fee to us as appropriate.

What information do I have to provide you in order for you to get me a supply contract?

We keep the information requirements minimal. All that we require is a copy of a recent electricity bill from your electric utility for each of the accounts included under the Broker Agreement. The Broker Agreement includes an authorization by you for us to access information about your account(s) from the utilities - this information provides us with all of the information we need to provide suppliers to allow them to bid to supply you electricity.

How long does this process take?

We can usually obtain prices for you within 5 business days from the time we receive an executed Broker Agreement. These prices are generally good only for a brief period of time, e.g., 1-2 days. If you accept any supply offer we bring to you, your service under this contract will begin on the next meter read date that occurs 20-25 days after signing the contract. This delay is required by the utilities to ensure that all accounts can be processed accurately.

Are there any "hidden" or other costs associated with execution of the Broker Agreement?

Absolutely not. As we have emphasized, our sole fee is built into the price you pay for electricity if you accept a contract we bring to you. Further, there are no switching costs imposed on you by the utility or the supplier

It is possible that you may have to pay a security deposit depending on a supplier's assessment of your credit-worthiness. This will be determined by the specific terms and conditions of any contract you sign. If you do not wish to pay a security deposit to a specific supplier, then you can simply not accept a contract from that supplier.
